Collective Circular Textiles (CCT) was founded by Fair Resource Foundation, an environmental organization taking the unique initiative to implement the ‘Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Textiles’ regulation. Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs) are a critical component of EPR legislation and are typically established by industry actors. CCT is the first PRO in Europe to emerge from an environmental organization, setting it apart from traditional PROs and enabling it to prioritize creating positive impact for people and the environment.
CCT’s goal is to demonstrate that a PRO can in fact actively contribute to making a product stream more sustainable—in this case, textiles. Based on their experience with EPR systems, Fair Resource Foundation has concluded that the current setup of producers’ organizations results in an excessive focus on cost-efficiency at the expense of people and the environment.
CCT aims to show that producers’ organizations can go beyond solely pursuing low costs. With a sustainable and social mission, CCT is committed to a circular textile industry that contributes to a cleaner and fairer world.
