Enabling the transition to regenerative agriculture in Kenya for smallholder farmers

In Kenya, Spronck Foundation and Enviu are working with 1,000 smallholder farmers to shift to regenerative agriculture by improving soil health, boosting climate resilience, and raising farmer incomes.

With over 80% of Kenya’s farmland at risk of desertification, conventional (often inputheavy) farming is no longer sustainable. Regenerative practices oJer a healthier, costeJective alternative rooted in indigenous knowledge.

Our approach focuses on two things:

1. Supporting farmers directly with practical training, access to safe organic inputs, and hands-on field support so they can confidently transition and deepen their regenerative practices.

2. Creating fair, reliable market pathways (locally and internationally) that reward regenerative produce with better prices, long-term contracts, and full transparency.

The result: healthier soils, more biodiversity, stronger livelihoods, and nutritious food.

In the upcoming year, we will double the land area that is farmed sustainably. Building on that growth, we will test and develop scalable, independent models that can run sustainably on their own, opening up a pathway to reach at least 60,000 smallholder farmers and progressively create larger impact far beyond the initial programs.

Alongside this, Enviu continues to focus on developing these independent, scalable models, ensuring that the impact created is not only eJective today but can grow exponentially over time, reaching more farmers year after year.
